B.G. Hip-Hop Edutainment
is the brainchild of two creative and innovative brothers from St. Louis Missouri, Darren and Christopher Douglas.
Home-schooled by their parents, they were encouraged
to be imaginative and create alternative ways to study and retain their lessons.
Their first creation, "Multiplication Hip-Hop" came in the fall of 1994
at the ages of 13 and 9 when they came up with a way to make learning multiplication fun and exciting.
"DC" Darren and Christopher began writing songs in "rhyme
style" that associated the answer to each multiplication fact with a rhyming word in the song. Later known as "Rhyme
Association", it proved to be a highly effective method for making their lessons more enjoyable and memorable.
In "January 2006" in the midst of a frustrating
conversation on hip-hop, school and the good old days, "DC" came to realize the immense power of Hip-Hop music to
communicate. In June of 2007 the "BG Hip-Hop Edutainment Series" was born, through a desire to educate as well as
entertain, while preserving the integrity of an original art form. "DC" along with their parents formed "Black
Gold Edutainment LLC."
Since it's
conception, originally intended as a supplemental learning aid for parents to help motivate and inspire their children by
giving them a boost of confidence "BG Hip-Hop Edutainment Series" is making leaps and bounds.
Crossing into adult education, while assisting parents and teachers by
providing a reliable supplemental aid for children with accelerated growth as well as special needs, even utilizing the series
for certain forms of music therapy.
Currently
"BG Hip-Hop Edutainment Series" is being used by many educators to assist in creating motivation and restoring interest.
Darren and Christopher have created a
reliable resource for children and adults to get the very best in "Edutainment" with the "B.G. Hip-Hop Edutainment
Series".
